precisionGenelex COO Kristine Ashcraft will be one of dozens of speakers at the seventh annual Personalized and Precision Medicine Conference, an official satellite event of the American Society of Human Genetics, in Baltimore this October.

Ashcraft will discuss studies and pilots showing financial and clinical improvements that get the attention of busy risk managers and how precision medicine and pharmacogenetic testing can change the healthcare landscape during her presentation “Precision Medicine in a Pay-for-Performance World.” The presentation starts at 10 a.m. on Oct. 5, at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore, MD.

“They say it takes 17 years for medical research to make it to the patient; this is unacceptable, and is causing avoidable costs and reduced quality of life, especially in personalized medicine,” said Ashcraft, who joined Genelex in 2000 .

Ashcraft will be part of the two-day conference that “brings together multiple stakeholders, including payers, molecular diagnostics companies, genome analysis/interpretation companies, clinicians and many others in order to provide attendees with a holistic view of the precision medicine landscape,” as stated on the conference’s website. Key conference themes include:

  • Practicing Precision Medicine
  • Companion Diagnostics
  • Emerging Reimbursement Policies

Nelson (MD, MPH), former American Medical Association president and current Genelex Medical Director, was recently featured there.

Talk of precision medicine has been on the lips of many in the healthcare space after President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address, in which he called for a Precision Medicine initiative to revolutionize healthcare. The President made it clear that it is necessary and expedient to use modern technology to provide personalized treatment for all Americans, not just those suffering from complex diseases.

Genelex is proud to be leader in precision medicine through its innovations in pharmacogenetic testing and analysis. Our YouScript Personalized Prescribing System pairs pharmacogenetic testing with one of the most comprehensive medication management software tools available.
